Description
Product Introduction
This Zinc Dioctyl Primary Alkyl Dithiophosphate has excellent anti-oxidation corrosion resistance and extreme pressure anti-wear properties, the thermal stability is particularly good, oil-soluble and additive compatibility and anti-emulsifying properties. This product and the detergent T105, T106 and dispersant T154, T155 compound, used in high-grade diesel engine oil, and other additives can be used for anti-wear hydraulic oil.
Zinc Dioctyl Primary Alkyl Dithiophosphate, also known as ZDDP, is a commonly used antiwear and antioxidant additive in lubricants. It is made up of a zinc salt of dialkyl dithiophosphate, typically derived from primary alkyl alcohols.
ZDDP acts as both a corrosion inhibitor and an extreme pressure (EP) additive in lubricants. It forms a protective film on metal surfaces, preventing direct metal-to-metal contact and reducing wear and friction. This is particularly important in high-pressure or high-temperature applications, such as in engines or gearboxes. ZDDP also provides antioxidant properties, helping to inhibit the formation of oxidation and degradation products in lubricants.
ZDDP is widely used in automotive and industrial lubricants, such as engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic fluids, and greases. It is especially effective in protecting sliding or rolling metal components, such as engine bearings, camshafts, and gears.
However, the use of ZDDP has been reduced in recent years due to concerns about its impact on catalytic converters in modern gasoline engines. ZDDP can form a coating on the catalyst surface, reducing its efficiency. Hence, newer automotive lubricants may contain lower levels of ZDDP, or alternative antiwear additives may be used instead.
Overall, Zinc Dioctyl Primary Alkyl Dithiophosphate is a valuable additive in lubricants, providing excellent antiwear and antioxidant properties, although its use may be limited in certain applications due to potential compatibility issues with catalytic converters.
