Formulation Rules for 2T Oils

  • Start with the target spec. JASO FD, API TC, and TC-W3 require different balances; one package rarely covers all three optimally.
  • Control ash, not just for spec, for the engine. In high-output engines, ash deposits cause pre-ignition that can destroy a piston in minutes.
  • Match base oil to service. Mineral 2T oils suit general use; synthetic or semi-synthetic blends (esters, PIB) deliver the cleanliness and high-temperature performance for racing and professional forestry equipment.
  • Verify mixability. The concentrate must disperse instantly and stay homogeneous in gasoline across temperature ranges, especially for premix applications.
